Medial Thigh Liposuction: Liposuction of the inner thighs
The inner thigh is a common area of concern for women in Los Angeles. Women often complain of the inner thighs rubbing together when walking, which can cause discomfort, irritation, and an unpleasant sound when the clothes rub together. Larger thighs can also make it difficult to find pants or jeans that fit well. Liposuction of the inner thighs is an excellent way to sculpt the inner thighs.
Good candidates for inner thigh liposuction have excess fat localized to the inner thighs and have good quality skin. Women who have loose skin, or have lost a lot of weight might be better candidates for a medial thigh lift, but this can only be determined by a consultation with a plastic surgeon.
Surgery requires just one small 2mm incision in the groin that hides very well. This incision allows the surgeon to remove the fat from the anterior (front aspect) of the inner thigh. Additionally, a small incision will often need to be placed on the back, in the buttock crease, which allows liposuction of the posterior (back aspect) of the inner thigh. Performing liposuction from the front and the back allows complete treatment of this difficult area.
Women, who get liposuction to treat the inner thighs, often also get liposuction of the inner knees. This improves the overall contour of the legs and creates a very smooth transition. During the recovery, you will need to wear a garment that applies compression to the legs. This is worn all the time, preferably for about four to six weeks. The compression garment helps to limit the swelling and also improve the way the skin looks on the medial thighs. Since the legs are nearly always in the dependent position, it is important to keep your legs elevated whenever you are not standing, to reduce the amount of swelling in the legs. There is minimal discomfort after liposuction of the inner thighs.
