Sometimes the earliest notable signs of facial aging are evident in the neck. Individuals will notice loss of neck and jaw definition and excess fat in the neck. The neck muscles (platysma) become separated and loose, resulting in vertical bands in the front of the neck. A neck lift is typically part of a standard facelift. A facelift will always improve the neck, but sometimes additional procedures are required to fully correct these neck deformities. Surgery

Conservative liposuction may be necessary to remove some of the excess fat in the neck. In order to tighten the midline platysma (neck muscles), an incision is created below your chin to expose these muscles. Sutures are placed within the neck muscles to improve the vertical bands in the neck; this is called a midline platysmaplasty.

A facelift will be needed in order to elevate the cheek tissue to improve jowling and create jaw definition. During the facelift the sides of the neck will also be tightened. The excess skin from the neck will be elevated and removed behind the ears, to reduce the “turkey neck.”

Recovery

Surgery is performed as an outpatient and you will have a surgical dressing on for the first day. You will need to wear a neck and face garment for about one or two weeks to maintain the results and reduce the risk of fluid collections. The risks of surgery include bleeding, bruising, fluid collections, asymmetry, and contour irregularities. Most of the swelling and bruising will resolve after two to three weeks, after which you feel comfortable being out in public again. It is important to keep your head elevated during the postoperative period to reduce the amount of swelling.

Hello my name is Amy and I didn’t really unhappy with my neck for the last few years and I wanted something done not the whole facelift and Doctor Dass came highly recommend it to me. So, I’m going to have a procedure done today that’s going to tighten my neck up I look forward to some great results

Hi I’m Doctor Dennis Dass and today we’re going to be doing a smart Lipo of the chin on an Amy. She’s a great candidate. She’s complaining of some double chin right here and a little bit of loose skin and I’m just going to place the marks, and we’ll make a little entry point right here and then the laser will be passed all the way back, so that we can get a nice definition of the chin on both sides here, and this is the area that we’ll be treating. So, we’ll be removing all of this fat that’s right down here, and that laser will tighten that skin to give her a nice contour a nice angle for her chin. Okay we’re going to get ready to do the laser portion of the procedure. This is actually the precision laser and there’s two lasers, one laser goes straight out and one beam goes up that way it’s directed towards the skin. If you look on my glove here you can see two little beams there. So, that’s I don’t know if you can see it that way there’s two, two, lights there it even so I’m going to insert this through our entry point and we’ll deliver some laser energy so this is not only melting the fat but it’s also tightening the skin. How are you doing Amy?

So, the laser turns off by itself when the fat and the skin gets it at the right temperature so it’s impossible to get a burn it’s a very safe procedure. Laser and a portion is complete and now we’re going to do liposuction portion. Okay and now we’re done it’s been about 10 minutes and we are done with the procedure. We’ve got a nice contour to the neck the jaw line has been nicely defined and then the chin neck angle looks more acute. So, it’s going to be more youthful. This skin is going to read drape and tighten up against the muscles here. It’s going to look great. Amy how are you doing?

Right we enjoyed having you last time talking about ways that we could keep ourselves looking young and now there’s a new way it’s called pre-rejuvenation. What is this?

Yeah pre-juvenation is the newest trend and it’s a proactive strategy to help one look good maintain the way they look and also prevent or slow down the aging process and we can do this a number of ways with fillers minimally invasive procedures and some non-surgical treatments with new technology that really improve one’s look and slows down the appearance of wrinkles, so that we don’t see them when we’re taking a selfie

Sure that’s that’s huge it’s all about the gram right. All right what about minimally invasive treatments you mentioned that is a lot of people are concerned maybe going under the knife isn’t for them this is an option

Absolutely so the minimally invasive procedure I’ve performed it addresses the neck because that’s where we see early signs of aging so if we get just a small collection of excess fat in the neck or a double chin if you will. A lot of that is genetic. It appears even in your 20s and then it just gets worse over time. So, with the minimally invasive procedure that I’ve developed I can use a small fiber optic laser through a small opening that’s almost imperceptible and using that laser on the underside of the skin, I can tighten the skin boost collagen and also remove melted fat, so that the appearance looks better. You know even removing just a small amount of fat from the from the chin creates a beautiful more youthful appearance and it’s also going to slow down the aging process in that area.

Now we’ve showed a couple of videos we saw the before and afters let’s play the next one you can explain kind of what is what we’re seeing here as we roll this, I think it’s called a secret facial right is that what you’re talking about

So, right here is is still that minimally invasive procedure the mini neck lift but with one of the newer technologies its RF micro needling. Now micro needling became really popular last year and now the all the rage is radiofrequency assisted micro needling. Here it is here. It’s basically micro needling on steroids so we with this technology I can deliver radiofrequency to the deeper layers of the skin to really boost collagen smooth out wrinkles and tighten the skin improve texture and again this is going to slow down the aging process
