Facelift With Fat Graft Injections And Stem Cells

Why fat grafting?
Fat grafting is a surgical technique that has been refined
over the last several decades. It is a natural way to revitalize many
areas of the body. The face, in particular, can benefit from fat
grafting. Newer evidence suggests that the face not only loses
elasticity, but also volume, as we age. Some of that lost volume is
the result of resorption of fat. So, it only makes sense to combine a
facelift with fat graft, to replace volume and turn back the clock.
Where does the fat come from?
Luckily, most of us have unwanted fat. So, we take your own,
and transfer it to the face. The technique involves gentle liposuction
to harvest fat cells. The liposuction and fat harvest is typically
performed on the abdomen or thighs. The fat is then processed using a
specialized technique that preserves intact fat cells and the associated
stem cells. The fat and stem cells are then injected into specific
areas of the face where volume loss has occurred. The stem cells
contribute little to the overall improvement; it is really the fat that
enhances facial contours.
A fuller face is a more youthful face.
Initially, facial volume is over corrected because only about
half of the fat will survive. But, don’t worry, the amount injected
into the face is relatively small and will not create a plump or round
face. In fact, most patients like the fuller look, even before swelling
goes down.
Why not just use fillers?
Facial fillers attempt to re-volumize the face. They are nice
for patients who don’t want surgery. However, fillers are not
permanent. With repeated treatments, dermal fillers can become very
expensive. Most people have a supply of fat they’d like to get rid of,
and prefer having their own, natural cells implanted. Once the fat
graft develops a blood supply, it will be very long lasting; possibly
permanent.
