Tattoo coverups now easier with the PicoSure tattoo removal system: A new option available in Los Angeles

Archeological evidence shows that tattoos have been part of human culture since the Neolithic period – the later part of the Stone Age, about 10,000 years ago. No one knows for sure when the first individual to become disenchanted with his or her ink opted to hide it with a new tattoo. What we do know is that tattoo coverup remains a popular option. However, a coverup may not be a reasonable alternative for a very dark tattoo. Dr. Dennis Dass uses the PicoSure laser tattoo removal system to lighten ink for successful coverups. Patients from all over Los Angeles County trust Dr. Dass with their skin and their health.

Understanding tattoo coverups

The epidermis is the visible layer of skin. The ink for your original tattoo was deposited beneath the epidermis into the dermis. Your coverup tattoo will NOT sit on top of the old ink. It, too, will reside in the dermis. That means that the artist must skillfully blend pigments from the old tattoo with fresh pigments to create new colors. As a rule of thumb, a darker shade of one color can cover a lighter shade of the same color (for example, lime green can be covered with emerald). Black is an obvious choice that can usually cover any other hue. What if you don’t want a black coverup, or your existing ink is so dense that you’d just end up with a black blob, rather than monotone shading? You have Dr. Dass lighten the old tattoo with his PicoSure laser. Your artist will have much more design flexibilitywhen your old tattoo is pale.

Ink lightening for successful coverups

The PicoSure laser delivers light energy in one trillionth of a second pulses. These ultra-fast pulses shatter the pigmentation in tattoos without damaging skin. Your body then harmlessly absorbs and eliminates the ink particles. Every case is different, but Dr. Dass has great success in achieving full tattoo clearance, usually with six treatments scheduled at least a month apart. However, even a dark tattoo can be significantly lightened for coverup in three or fewer sessions. Dr. Dass takes extra precautions to ensure that your PicoSure experience is positive, and treatment is generally well-tolerated. Most patients say that it feels about like being snapped with a rubber band. There is minimal risk of scarring or other side effects. Tattoos can be powerful personal expressions. If your ink needs an update to keep pace with your personality, go ahead and plan on a coverup. Just be sure to call Dr. Dass first, to schedule lightening sessions with the PicoSure tattoo removal system. His practice is located in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles County. Call (855) 496-4646.
